6-14 GHz Fundamental Mixer Offers High Isolation, Low Conversion Loss

The CMD177C3 is a packaged 6 to 14 GHz double-balanced mixer with a low conversion loss of 6.5 dB, high LO to RF isolation of 45 dBc, and a high input IP3 of +18 dBm across the 6 to 14 GHz bandwidth. The minimum LO drive requirement is +9 dBm, with saturation reached at levels above +13 dBm. Housed in a leadless, 3 mm ceramic surface mount package, the CMD177C3 can be used in both up- and down-converting systems.

Additionally, a pair of CMD177C3 components can be configured as an image reject mixer or single sideband modulator with external hybrids and power splitters. The wide IF bandwidth of DC to 5 GHz allows for the support of numerous frequency conversion plans.

Ideal applications for this new mixer are point-to-point and point-to-multi-point radios, test equipment, sensors, and military end-use.

24-36 GHz Frequency Multiplier Offers High Output Power and Low Spur Levels

The CMD214 is a new 24 to 36 GHz (output) active x2 frequency multiplier in die form. The CMD214 accepts input signals in the range of 12 to 18 GHz and provides output to the second harmonic (24 to 36 GHz) at a level of +17 dBm. Isolations to the fundamental and third harmonics are greater than 32 dBc and 25 dBc, respectively. Typical input drive level for the CMD214 is +14 dBm, although the multiplier will operate at levels as low as +11 dBm. Bias conditions are Vdd=5 V @ 40 mA, and Vgg1 = -1.8 V, and Vgg2 = -0.8 V. All ports are matched to 50 Ohms and no off-chip components are required for operation, aside from bypass capacitors on the gate and drain bias lines. Ideal applications for the CMD214 are point-to-point and point-to-multipoint radios, military and space, and test instrumentation.

17 to 27 GHz Ultra Low Noise MMIC Amplifier

The CMD163 is a 17 to 27 GHz low noise amplifier (LNA) in die form.

The CMD163 has a gain of +24 dB, a noise figure of less than 1.3 dB, and an output 1 dB compression point of +19 dBm across the 17 to 27 GHz bandwidth. Additionally, the CMD163 utilizes an all-positive bias scheme, thereby eliminating the need for negative voltages and expensive sequencing circuitry. Bias conditions are Vdd = 4 V @ 120 mA and Vgg = 3.0 V.

The CMD163 is ideally suited for military and space applications, as well as point-to-point and point-to-multipoint communication systems where small die size and high linearity are needed. The LNA is an internally matched 50 ohm design that does not require any external components, aside from bypass capacitors. Additionally, the LNA is available in packaged form as the CMD163C4 with similar performance.
