4-8 GHz GaN Low-Noise Amplifier (LNA) MMIC

    Custom MMIC is pleased to announce the release of the CMD219, a 4-8 GHz low noise amplifier (LNA) in die form, to their growing line of standard GaN amplifier products.

    The CMD219 has a gain of 23 dB, an output of 1 dB compression point of +18 dBm, and a noise figure of 1.1 dB across its operating bandwidth. Typical bias conditions are Vdd = 10 V @ 100 mA and Vgg = -2.3 V, although Vdd can vary from 5 V to 28 V. The CMD219 can also survive input power levels of up to 5 W without front-end a limiter.

    Ideal applications for the CMD219 include point-to-point and point-to-multipoint radios, military and space, and test instrumentation. All ports are matched to 50 Ohm and do not require any off-chip components, aside from the bias networks which require external bypass capacitors.

    Low Noise GaN Amplifier Survives High Incident Power

    The CMD218 offers a gain of 22 dB, output of 1 dB, compression point of +19.5 dBm, and noise figure of less than 1.25 dB across the 5 to 9 GHz frequency range. In addition, without an input limiter, the CMD218 can survive high incident power levels up to 5 W with no degradation in performance. The CMD218 is a 50 ohm matched design, thus eliminating the need for external DC blocks and RF port matching. In terms of biasing, the CMD218 can operate from a supply voltage of 5 V to 28 V, and typically draws 100 mA of quiescent current. A negative gate voltage is required for proper operation. The LNA is ideally suited for microwave radios and C- and X-band applications where small size and low power consumption are needed. Applications include point-to-point and point-to-multipoint radios, military and space, and test instrumentation.

    DC-20 GHz SP4T Non-Reflective Switch Offers Low Insertion Loss

    The CMD203 is a DC-20 GHz SP4T non-reflective switch in die form.

    Featuring low insertion loss of 2.4 dB and high isolation of 39 dB at 10 GHz, the CMD203 offers exceptional switch performance over a broad frequency range, with a switching speed of 66 nS, an input P1dB of +20 dBm, and an input IP3 of +30 dBm.

    The CMD203 also includes an on-board binary decoder circuit, thereby reducing the number of required logic control lines from four to two. Each single ended control line requires logic levels of 0/-5 V. Overall the CMD203 consumes 4.5 mA of DC current.

    The CMD203 is ideally suited for applications such as microwave radio and VSAT, telecom infrastructure, test instrumentation, and military end-use.

    DC-28 GHz SPDT Non-Reflective Switch Offers Low Insertion Loss

    The CMD196 is a DC-28 GHz, non-reflective, SPDT switch in die form.

    Covering DC to 28 GHz, the CMD196 features low insertion loss of 1.75 dB, high isolation of 46 dB, and port return losses better than -15 dB at 14 GHz. A pair of complimentary voltage lines at 0 / -5 V control the switching action without the need for an external bias supply. Switching speed is typically 1.8 nS.

    The CMD196 is a general purpose, broadband, high-isolation, non-reflective MMIC SPDT switch in die form. Optimum applications for the new switch are microwave radio and VSAT, telecom infrastructure, test instrumentation, and military end-use.

    SPDT Non-Reflective MMIC Switch Offers Positive Gain Slope

    The CMD195 is a new DC-20 GHz non-reflective SPDT MMIC switch which operates across the DC to 20 GHz bandwidth with an insertion loss of 2.5 dB that reduces to 2 dB as the frequency increases. The terminated switch has an isolation of greater than 40 dB, port return losses less than -15 dB, an input 1 dB compression point of +25 dBm, and a switching speed of 1.8 nS. Switching operation is controlled by a pair of complementary logic signals at 0/-5 V. Ideal applications for the CMD195 are microwave radio and VSAT, telecom infrastructure, test instrumentation, and military end-use. The positive gain slope of the CMD195 versus frequency allows for natural gain equalization when multiple switches are cascaded together.
