Custom MMIC Design Services, Inc. announce technical representative appointments
Custom MMIC Design Services, Inc. (CMDS) announced today the appointments of Cain Technology, NWN Inc., and dBm Technical Sales as their technical sales representatives. Cain Technology will represent CMDS in Southern California, NWN Inc. will cover Northern California and parts of Nevada, and dBm Technical Sales will cover the New England area. All three representative firms have proven track records in the RF/Microwave and millimeter-wave arena.

Custom MMIC Design Services, Inc. Awarded 2011 Army Commercialization Pilot Program
Custom MMIC Design Services, Inc. (CMDS) announced today that it has been selected by the United States Army SBIR Program Management Office for participation in the Commercialization Pilot Program (CPP) for 2011. The CPP award follows the successful completion by CMDS of its Phase II contract, “High Efficiency, Low Power, Low Noise Amplifiers for SATCOM.”
“We are very excited to be part of the U.S. Army's commercialization program to further develop state of the art components for phased array systems,” said Paul Blount, President and CEO of CMDS. “The components developed under this CPP contract will allow us to provide all key elements of the RF front end block diagram, thus enabling military and commercial markets to reduce their total cost of ownership of SATCOM and RADAR systems.”

Custom MMIC Design Services, Inc. wins a 2011 Army Achievement Award
Custom MMIC Design Services, Inc. (CMDS) announced today that on Friday, May 20, CMDS was awarded a 2011 Army Achievement Award in recognition of its innovative work on high efficiency, low power, low noise MMIC amplifiers for SATCOM applications. Paul Blount, President and CEO of CMDS, accepted the award on behalf of the company at a ceremony at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA.
“We are very honored to win this award,” said Mr. Blount, “as it is in recognition of the successful completion of our first Phase II SBIR contract, where we exceeded all of our program goals. The award was based on four criteria including originality and innovation of the work, relevance to the mission of the U. S. Army, immediate commercialization potential, and overall quality of the project. Indeed, we have launched no less than eight commercial products as a result of this research, including LNAs with 0.8 dB and 1.1 dB noise figure at 10GHz and 20GHz respectively.”

Custom MMIC Design Services, Inc. Awarded U.S. Army Phase II SBIR Contract
Custom MMIC Design Services, Inc. (CMDS), announced today that it has been awarded its second Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase II contract from the United States Army to develop millimeter-wave, high linearity, high power amplifiers on Gallium Nitride (GaN) for satellite communication systems (SATCOM).
“We are excited to be working with the U.S. Army to develop amplifiers on the cutting edge technology of millimeter-wave GaN,” said Paul Blount, President and CEO of CMDS. “In addition to developing these amplifiers for the U.S. Army, we will also use this award to develop other RF front-end products including high linearity mixers, switches, and phase shifters. This award will enable us to complement our line of high efficiency low noise amplifiers with high efficiency power amplifiers, thus enabling military and commercial markets to reduce their total cost of ownership of SATCOM systems.”

Custom MMIC Design Services, Inc. Announces Mr. David Folding as Vice President of Operations
Tyngsboro, Massachusetts, June 1, 2009 - Custom MMIC Design Services, Inc. (CMDS), a designer and developer of custom monolithic microwave integrated circuits, announced today David Folding has joined the company as its Vice President of Operations.
“David brings to CMDS an extensive background in semiconductor manufacturing as well as executive leadership experience,” said Paul Blount, President and CEO of CMDS. “As a proven leader who is well-respected throughout the semiconductor industry, we are confident David’s distinguished career and accomplishments will be an invaluable asset to Custom MMIC Design Services, Inc., as we grow our presence in the microwave industry. We are excited to have David on the team.”
Prior to joining Custom MMIC Design Services, Mr. Folding was Product Line Manager for the Asia-Pacific GaAs/SiGe IC Product Line of M/A-COM Inc. In this capacity, he developed key strategic customer relationships that resulted in a substantial increase of market share and profitability within the commercial wireless and infrastructure components business segments. Prior to M/A-COM, Mr. Folding served as Manufacturing Manager at Hittite Microwave Corporation, where he led the growth of the standard product lines from $2M/year to $20M/year over a 4-year period. Mr. Folding holds an M.B.A. in Marketing from the McCallum Graduate School of Business at Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts, and a B.S.E.E. from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.

Custom MMIC Design Services, Inc. Awarded U.S. Army Phase 2 SBIR Contract
Custom MMIC Design Services, Inc. (CMDS), announced today that it has been awarded a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase 2 contract from the U.S. Army to develop high efficiency, low power, low noise amplifiers for satellite communication systems (SATCOM). The Phase 2 award follows the successful completion of both the Phase 1 and Phase 1 Extension portions of the original contract.
“We are very pleased the U.S. Army has chosen us to move forward with the development of our state-of-the-art low noise, low power amplifiers for SATCOM systems,” said Paul Blount, President and CEO of CMDS. “In addition to developing these cutting edge MMIC amplifiers for the U.S. Army, this Phase 2 award will allow us to expand our capabilities, grow our manpower, and develop other components commonly found in SATCOM systems such as phase shifters and converters. Finally, this award will launch us in a new direction, that of a MMIC supplier, as we leverage our designs in both the commercial and military markets”

Custom MMIC Design Services, Inc. Awarded U.S. Army SBIR Contract
Custom MMIC Design Services, Inc. (CMDS), announced today that it has been awarded its first Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase I contract from the U.S. Army to develop high efficiency, low power, low noise amplifiers for satellite communication systems (SATCOM). The SBIR program is a highly competitive program that provides opportunities for small companies to engage in cutting-edge research for the U.S. Army and other governmental agencies.
“High efficiency, low noise, low power amplifiers are critical for next-generation SATCOM systems,” said Paul Blount, President and CEO of Custom MMIC Design Services. “This SBIR award will allow us to develop a radically new approach to the design and implementation of high efficiency amplifiers, an approach that will help solve some of the difficult technical challenges of future SATCOM systems.
